Today was mainly a physical work day. We went to a building in the city owned by a friend named Amber. Easiest way to explain this place, she uses it was somewhat of a homeless shelter and feeds out of it 3-4 times a week and most recently has been able to hold church services there. It is an awesome ministry that Amber runs!
She was able to purchase this building just before we were here in June. We helped clean and paint a room then. It is huge and beatuiful but needs some maintenance help all around. We split up into a few different groups and went to work. Some of us had mops, brooms and scrub brushes and hit a few rooms pretty hard with that. Another group dida great job painting two of the upstairs rooms. The rest worked hard building some benches to use for church there.
We then visited an elderly home and brought then a big supply of food. We went to the same market we had gone to the first day here to buy the food. The kids i had played with there before recognized me and came running over! I loved getting to see them and hope to again before I leave!
Later that evening we went back to Amber's building to help feed the homeless. That definitely became one of the team's faavorite things to do!
